Being at a wrong place at a wrong time can change one's life.

For Máire it was the place and moment where she met Niall Mac Cartaigh. Instantly she fell in love with him.

She expected him to love her back but that never happened. She became his "follower", as she called it. He called her his "maid-servant".

Why she remained attracted to him even when he never showed any affection for her remains a true mystery. Perhaps it was just another of his cunning magic tricks?

As much as it pains me to say it, I had decided to send her to the Island along with him. Although I doubt it, she may have learned a thing or two from him and therefore needs to be purified.
