There’s an easy calculation that will help you identify how tall your bar stools should be. Start by measuring the distance between your floor and the underside of your counter. Then, subtract 9-11 inches from this number. This will give you the height of your bar stool (from the floor to the top of your bar stool’s seat). You can also check to see if your counter height fits one of the three most common heights. If so, you can simply pick the corresponding bar stool height (outlined for you below). Note: There are also adjustable bar stools that can be raised or lowered to meet specific height needs.
Traditional bar stools typically feature a dark finish wood frame and leather upholstered seating to create a stately and formal look in a space. While rustic style bar stools often feature mixed materials and two-tone finishes. Distressed wood, wicker, and lighter finishes add casual, country charm.
